This site is run by Hillary Uzomba, a creative technologist based in the United Kingdom. This page explains what happens to information about you when you visit. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
The short version
There is no advertising here, no tracking pixels, and nothing is sold to anyone. The only information collected is what you send deliberately, plus the ordinary records a web server keeps in order to work at all.
What is collected
When you simply read
The hosting provider records standard server logs: your IP address, the pages requested, the time of the request, and the browser reporting it. These exist so the site can be kept running and secure. They are not used to build a profile of you.
When you get in touch
If you email the address in the footer, that message and your address sit in an ordinary mailbox. They are kept for as long as the conversation is useful and then deleted.
When you leave a comment
WordPress stores the name, email address and message you supply, along with your IP address, to help catch spam. Comments and their metadata may be retained indefinitely so that follow-ups can be recognised automatically.
Cookies
No analytics or advertising cookies are set. Your browser stores one small preference locally, remembering whether you chose the light or dark version of this site. That preference never leaves your device and is not readable by anyone else. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Embedded video
Some pages embed video hosted by YouTube or Vimeo. When such a page loads, your browser contacts those services directly, and they may set their own cookies and record the request. This site uses YouTube’s no-cookie domain where it can, which reduces but does not eliminate that. Their policies govern what they do with it: see the Google privacy policy and the Vimeo privacy policy.
Fonts
All typefaces are served from this site’s own server. No font CDN is contacted, so no request about you is made to one.
Who else sees it
The hosting provider, as a processor, in order to serve the site. The email provider, for messages you send. Nobody else. Nothing is sold or shared for marketing.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you may ask for a copy of any personal data held about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, or object to it being processed. Write to the address in the footer and expect a reply within one month. If you are unhappy with the response you may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
